THE GROWTH OF THE HORSE AUCTION MARKET
Today we’d like to talk about the increase in horse auctions by exploring sales, participation, figures and forecasts. We all know that online shopping has increased and changed they ways in which stallions are bought, and we also know that today it’s very easy to monitor their performance. Thanks to the constant growth of this business, which is expected to continue throughout the year, high figures have been reached, with offers up to €550,000 for a single horse in the first months of 2018.
Stallions and show jumping horses
If we take a look at the trends in stallion sales, it becomes clear that among the most highly requested horses are the offspring of Cornet Obolenski and Casall Ask. The highest figures for show jumping horses in Italy were reached in 2018, with the sale of 22 offspring of Lissabon aged three and over.
Yearlings and foals
If we look carefully at the price trends for these types of horses, based on the sales at the horse auctions in 2018, you’ll see that the total sales in Italy amounted to around €490,000. This trend is expected to continue throughout the year. First place goes to Fortina Z, sold for €142,000, followed by Emeraude Pommex Z, that reached almost €61,000. As far as foals are concerned, the highest prices were reached for the offspring of Presley Girl, with an average of €12,500 per horse and a total of €45,000.
The sale of embryos: some figures from horse auctions
As far as the online sale of embryos is concerned, this year’s turnover has been of €1,871,500. Obviously, the price depends solely on the mother, thanks to which the market trends can be estimated more concretely. A good percentage of the sales (11%) has reached price ranges between €20,000 and €60,000. Peaks were hit for the purchase of the cross between Emerald and Walnut De Muze.
Foaling Alarm: innovation in monitoring foaling
Keeping in mind the aforementioned figures, it becomes clear how monitoring the foaling of embryos coming from purebred mares on the one hand guarantees the health of the horse itself and on the other hand helps and simplifies the work of the vet that takes care of it.
This device, with its one kilometre range, acts as a direct link during the last stages of foaling, which most of the times takes place at night. When the time is right, it will contact you via text message or call, enabling you to help the mare during this delicate time.
Chosen by over 700 breeders, our Foaling Alarm is proving to be a safe solution, whose use is constantly growing, that can help many professionals to grow their earnings from sales and horse auctions.
