Mice and rats often find their way into stables, thus endangering the health of the mares, weakened by the recent delivery, and of the new-born foals.

During the years, these animals managed to infect humans with salmonella, cholera, plague and other diseases which are not so well known, such as leptospirosis and murine typhus. Horses are not immune to them and, therefore, these diseases that are carried by rats and mice should not be underestimated.
